Busitema On Proper Path

By Patricia Turyahebwa

Busitema university are proud of what they achieved in the just concluded Eastern Africa University Games Ndejje 2022.

They fielded 50 players who competed in chess, taekwondo, netball, football, athletics, karate and darts.

However, they managed to finish 13th overall out of the 25 universities that made it to the medal bracket having won gold in both scrabble and taekwondo.

When Busitema hosted the first edition of the Eastern Africa University women games in April, they won a bronze in scrabble and they upgraded to gold in Ndejje.

With the good performance, the university sports tutor Agnes Baluka is confident that the sports future of the institution is bright despite not performing well in other disciplines during the 12th edition of the games.

“We thank God that we managed to excel in scrabble, taekwondo and darts,” Baluka said. “We did not have enough time to train due to the fact that it was the first major university regional tournament ever since we came out of Covid-19, but again we finished exams on the day we were supposed to report for the games.” Busitema’s Lynette Nahabwe and Sanyu Nampeera stood out when they won gold in scrabble as well as Samuel Orokode who grabbed gold in taekwondo heavyweight
