Here is what has drawn them to New Vision Education Expo

Hundreds of people who attended the opening day of the first ever New Vision Education Expo in Kampala walked away more knowledgeable on different topics on education.

Friday was the first of three days of the inaugural expo, which is taking place at the Uganda Institute of Information and Communications Technology in Nakawa, Kampala.

With the daily entrance fee of sh10,000, participants can attend any of the training sessions held every day of the expo.

On Friday, there was a training on leveraging ICT for employment and one on understanding the competence-based curriculum.

The expo is organised by Vision Group.

“We sell tanks. So we have come to the expo to look for clients from schools and universities. The good news is that we have got more clients,” said Beatrice Tumusime, the manager for Technology for Tomorrow, who are exhibiting.

Harera Janane, a diploma student, was drawn to the expo to see what is trending in different universities in terms of technology.

“I have come to discover new technology in different universities,” she said.

Another student, Michael Kakembo, said: “As a student, I have come to see how I can use my ICT skills to get employed in this competitive world.”

Trevor Kato is a student of computer science. 

“I am a student of computer science. I couldn’t just sit in my hostel as something of this kind is happening. I have learnt a lot from the lady who presented on leveraging ICT in employment,” he said.

“We came to register for NIN [national identification number],” said Moses Matogo.

“In other centres, it is hard to register, but here it is easy. Even the disabled can register without a hustle. The registration for a national identity card at the expo takes less time and children do not get tired while registering.”

Many of the students who attended the expo on the first day came to explore opportunities happening at different universities where they hope to join when Senior Six exam results are released.

“I came to see how I can study online without attending classes because I stay far and I would love to attend university from Kampala. I have seen the university I want to join and I am going to encourage my fellow students to come tomorrow [Saturday],” said Brian Ssemakula.
