Is A Tomato A Fruit Or A Vegetable?

A fruit is the reproductive part of a seed plant. It develops from the fertilised ovary of a flower. A tomato, therefore, is a fruit because it contains seeds and grows from the flower of a tomato plant. However, tomatoes are cooked and eaten as vegetables and they are considered so by nutritionists.
