Children in Mpigi district participated in the Afro Sabano Kids Arts Festival recently. The event that took place at SINA Academy in Mpigi town council, is organised twice a year by Innovation on Wheels, a non governmental organisation.
Stellah Nakawuki Lukwago, one of the organisers, said the festival is intended to give children between the ages of three and 12 years a platform to think creatively and appreciate their culture and heritage.
The children use recycled materials, plastic waste, glue and materials from the environment. Some of these are leaves, flowers and soil.
Children appreciated the initiative, saying it has developed their ability to understand certain things and also keep them busy during the long holiday.
