St Mary’s Secondary School Kitende and Uganda Martyrs’ Secondary School Namugongo have dominated admissions for medical programmes to Makerere University under government scholarship. An analysis of the admissions list released by Makerere on Friday shows that King’s College Budo, sent the highest number of students for engineering.
Of the 82 students admitted for human medicine, Kitende had 11, Namugongo 8 and King’s College Budo, St Mary’s Kisubi and Immaculate Heart Girls School had four each. In pharmacy, which has 22 slots, Namugongo has four students while Kitende and Seeta High each had two. Budo sent the highest number of students for engineering, taking eight of the 42 slots for civil engineering while Kitende had four. Of the 43 scholarships for electrical engineering, Budo and Namugongo had five students each followed by Mengo Secondary School with four while for mechanical engineering, Budo students scooped five slots followed by Namugongo with four of the 36 places.
