Makerere University chancellor Prof. Ezra Suruma conferred degrees and awarded diplomas to 12,550 graduands.
The five-day ceremonies were conducted following government guidelines against the spread of COVID-19. Students of bachelors and diplomas, were asked to follow the proceedings of the Graduation on TV and online platforms.
However, those with first class degrees, were allowed to attend physically. Also, the University, using its Freedom Square, invited students with Masters or PhDs to attend the graduation ceremonies, physically.
There were no invited guests. All parents, guardians, spouses, relatives and friends were advised to follow the graduation ceremony on TV or virtually on Makerere University’s social media pages.
However, some students still found their way of picking on the limelight. Others had their own private parties.
