The incoming prefects of Tropical Nursery and Primary School in Najjeera, a Kampala suburb, recently took oath.
The day started with prayer led by the Rev. Prossy Namuddu of St Mark Najjeera. Thereafter, the 19 prefects took oath before parents, teachers and pupils.
The guest-of-honour and mayor of Kira, Julius Mutebi, planted a tree. He encouraged pupils to preserve and protect the environment.
Henry Mukasa, the director of the school, encouraged prefects to balance studies with leadership.
The event was crowned with entertainment and the cutting of cake.
