Presidents Of Uganda Since Independence
- Sir Edward Frederick Mutesa II: He was the Kabaka of Buganda Kingdom and the first President of Uganda. He took office on October 9, 1963 and was overthrown by his Prime Minister, Apollo Milton Obote, on March 2, 1966.
- Dr. Apollo Milton Obote: He was Uganda’s second president from April 15, 1966 to January 25 1971.
- Idi Amin Dada: He took over office on January 25, 1971 after over throwing Milton Obote. He was also overthrown on April 11, 1979.
- Yusuf Lule Kironde: He was the fourth president. He took over on April 13, 1979 and ruled for only 68 days. He was overthrown on June 20, 1979.
- Godfrey Binaisa ruled for 327 days starting from June 20, 1979 to May 12, 1980.
- Paulo Muwanga was the sixth president. He ruled for only 10 days, from May 2, 1980 to May 22, 1980.
- Milton Obote II. He bounced back in December 1980 and he was president until 1985.
- Yoweri Kaguta Museveni took power in January 26, 1986. He is the president to date. However, between 1985 and 1986, two military generals ruled the country briefly. General Bazilio Olara-Okello ruled for two days and General Tito Okello ruled for 181 days.
