The Uganda National Students’ Association (UNSA) has set January 16, 2023, for the election of its new leaders.
The decision, according to UNSA speaker Kenneth Agaba Amponda came after a student from Makerere University petitioned the legitimacy of the electoral committee.
The UNSA secretariat is yet to hear the petition and give the ruling which according to Amponda will be done before the voting date.
“We want to give ample time to the complainant to lay his plea so that we can have a clean and transparent process,” Amponda told New Vision in a phone interview.
A total of nine candidates have applied for the association’s presidency, among which three are female.
This will be the 33rd election of UNSA after the previous one was conducted on November 4, last year.
