Why Is The Dead Sea Called “Dead”?

The Dead Sea, located between Israel and Jordan, is actually not a sea, but a salty lake. It is called “dead” because no animal or plant life can survive in it’s water because it is extremely salty. Scientists estimate that the water of the Dead Sea is eight times more salty than ordinary seawater.
