Over 80 children living in the slums of Kisowera and Kizza zones in Kawempe Division, Kampala district, had a good time with members of the Uganda Girl Guides Association.
Children between the ages of six and 12 years gathered at Kawempe Youth Centre.
They learnt how to maintain personal hygiene including brushing, washing and bathing. They also learnt financial literacy which involves saving money and using it properly.
The children also learnt to safeguard themselves from people who can take advantage of them and also avoid bad touches, strangers and loitering.
Thereafter, they played with the guides, ate and drank.

I enjoyed the day. The Girl guides have taught us how to stay safe from harm. I have learnt not to accept any bad touches from anybody.
Ricky Mafabi, Bulamu Primary School
I learnt how to use the toilet and how to clean ourselves well. I also learnt to brush with boiled water. It was a great day. I want to become a scout.

I have learnt not to allow people to touch my private parts. That I should not fear to report them. They also encouraged us to greet people and respect elders.
