One cannot talk about Uganda Christian University’s (UCU) successful defence of the women’s soccer title at Eastern Africa University Games in Ndejje without mentioning Sandra Kisakye.

She was very instrumental for UCU as she led the pack with seven goals during the games that were held at Ndejje main campus in Luweero.

She was the talk of the day when she scored four goals against Bishop Stuart University in the opening match at Ndejje SS Arena during the group stages before they defeated Kenyatta University 2-1.

She went ahead to score a brace against Kyambogo before her teammate Nadunga scored a brace too in a match which ended 4-1.

It was this 4-1 victory which handed UCU a slot to the final where they faced Kampala University (KU) which they also won 1-0 to emerge champions for the second consecutive time.

Kisakye told Vision Sport that it was her dream to see UCU defend the title.

“I was so happy because it was a dream come true and I’m grateful to God that he did it for me and the team as a whole,” Kisakye said.

While she may not have the sort of high profile status but she remains an iconic figure both at her club Lady Cardinals and the national team Crested Cranes.

Her speed and nose for goal makes her an incredibly exciting player to watch. And any game she features in is worth watching and one can easily tell from the way defenders treat her because they are always terrified of both her touch and speed.

Kisakye started playing football from Senior One at St. Stephen Budondo in Jinja before joining Dynamic SS where she left to join St Noa SS Zzana. After her Senior Four and Senior Six she joined UCU.
