By Ritah Mukasa

What do you want to be when you grow up? A teacher, doctor, engineer, soldier or dancer? That is a career. A career is a job that one dedicates their life to doing to make a living. Many people chose careers based on their interests. Others choose careers because they admire people who are in those fields (Role models). • Respect people and their cultures. It will help you to work well with different races, tribes, religions and backgrounds. Also, be open to learning other languages.
  • Get a mentor who does the profession of interest to guide you. It can be your parents or relative. Spend time with them at their workplace and be familiar with what they do.
  • Learn to work as team. Join sports, leadership or academic competitions and get skills.
